กะสิน

สมถกรรมฐานหมวดหนึ่งที่กำหนดอารมณ์โดยอาศัยธาตุ ๔ คือ ปฐวี (ดิน) อาโป (นํ้า) เตโช (ไฟ) วาโย (ลม), วรรณะ (สี) ๔ คือ นีล (สีเขียวคราม) ปีต (สีเหลือง) โลหิต (สีแดง) โอทาต (สีขาว), อากาศ (ที่ว่าง) และ อาโลก (แสงสว่าง) รวมเป็น ๑๐ อย่าง โดยเลือกอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่งในการกำหนดอารมณ์ให้เหมาะกับจริตของผู้ที่จะเจริญกรรมฐาน.

[Pali] A category of concentration meditation (samatha) in Buddhism, in which the object of meditation is based on the four elements—earth (pathavi), water (apo), fire (tejo), wind (vayo); four colors—blue (nila), yellow (pita), red (lohita), white (odata); space (akasa), and light (aloka), totaling ten types. One is chosen as the meditation object according to the temperament of the practitioner.
