ชื่อแมลงพวกด้วงหลายชนิดหลายสกุล ในวงศ์ Scarabaeidae หัวแบน ขาแบน ด้านข้างขามีลักษณะเป็นหนามคล้ายฟันเลื่อย ลำตัวยาว ๐.๕-๖.๐ เซนติเมตร ส่วนใหญ่สีน้ำตาลเข้มหรือดำ อาศัยอยู่ตามมูลสัตว์ ปั้นมูลสัตว์เป็นก้อนเพื่อวางไข่ ตัวเต็มวัยเมื่อถูกตัวมักทำเสียงดังฉู่ฉี่ บางครั้งจึงเรียก ตัวฉู่ฉี่หรือด้วงจู้จี้ ชนิดที่พบบ่อย เช่น Onitis subopacusArrow, Onthophagus seniculus Fabricius พบทุกภาค, กุดจี่ที่มีขนาดใหญ่ เช่น กุดจี่ขี้ช้างหรือด้วงขี้ช้าง ( Heliocopris dominus Bates) พบมากในภาคเหนือและภาคอีสาน, จี่ ก็เรียก.
