ชื่อไม้ต้นในสกุล Rhizophora วงศ์ Rhizophoraceae ขึ้นตามป่าเลนชายทะเล นิยมใช้ทำฟืนและเผาถ่านกันมาก เมล็ดงอกตั้งแต่อยู่บนต้น ลักษณะเรียวยาวคล้ายฝัก มี ๒ ชนิด คือ โกงกางใบใหญ่หรือกงกอน ( R. mucronata Poir.) และโกงกางใบเล็ก ( R. apiculata Blume) ชนิดนี้นิยมใช้ทำฟืนและเผาถ่านกันมาก, พังกา ก็เรียก.
