ชื่อปลานํ้าจืดหลายชนิด ในสกุล Mystacoleucusวงศ์ Cyprinidae รูปร่างทั่วไปคล้ายปลาตะเพียน เว้นแต่มีหนามแข็งยื่นจากต้นครีบหลังออกไปข้างหน้า ขนาดยาวได้ถึง ๒๐ เซนติเมตร เช่น ชนิด Mystacoleucus marginatus (Valenciennes), M. atridorsalis Fowler, ชื่อนี้เรียกกันเฉพาะในเขตแม่นํ้าปิงเท่านั้น ในเขตแม่นํ้าน่านเรียก หนามไผ่, ปักษ์ใต้เรียก หญ้า.
(n.) Name of several species of freshwater fish in the genus Mystacoleucus, family Cyprinidae. Their general shape resembles the barb, except they have a hard spine extending forward from the base of the dorsal fin. They can reach up to 20 centimeters in length, e.g., Mystacoleucus marginatus (Valenciennes), M. atridorsalis Fowler. This name is used only in the Ping River area; in the Nan River area, they are called 'หนามไผ่', and in the southern region, 'หญ้า'.
