ชื่อไม้ต้นชนิด Catunaregum tomentosa (Blume ex DC.) Tirveng. ในวงศ์ Rubiaceae ลำต้นมีหนามยาว ใบรูปไข่กลับหรือค่อนข้างกลม ตามยอดอ่อนด้านล่างของใบและดอกมีขนนุ่ม ผลมีเนื้อหลายเมล็ด เช่น ปรูปรางเคดดวงดาษก็มี (ม. คำหลวง มหาพน), มะเค็ด ก็เรียก.
Ked (n.): The name of a tree species, Catunaregum tomentosa (Blume ex DC.) Tirveng., in the family Rubiaceae. The trunk has long thorns; the leaves are obovate or nearly round. The young shoots, the underside of the leaves, and the flowers have soft hairs. The fruit is fleshy with many seeds. For example, 'pruprang ked duang dat' is also a kind. Also called 'ma-ket'.
