ชื่อมาตราวัดจักรราศี คือ ๓๐ องศา เป็น ๑ ราศี, ถ้ากลุ่มดาวใดอยู่ในช่วงจักรราศีนั้น ก็เรียกชื่อราศีตามกลุ่มดาวนั้น เช่น ราศีเมษ ราศีกรกฎ, อาทิตย์โคจรรอบจักรวาลผ่านหมู่ดาว ๑๒ หมู่ และดาวหมู่หนึ่ง ๆ เรียกว่า ราศี ๑.
