เชือกหรือลวดหนังตีเป็นเกลียวหุ้มผ้าแดง ปรกติคล้องผูกอยู่รอบคอช้าง เมื่อตั้งสัปคับหรือกูบอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง ใช้ปลายทั้ง ๒ ข้างผูกสัปคับหรือกูบเพื่อรั้งมิให้เลื่อนไปทางท้ายช้างขณะเดินขึ้นที่ชัน, เขียนเป็น กระพัตร ก็มี เช่น และกระพัตรรัตคนควร (ดุษฎีสังเวย).
