กฺล่อม

ชื่อมาตราชั่งของไทยโบราณ ๔ เมล็ดข้าวเปลือก เป็น ๑ กล่อม ๒ กล่อม เป็น ๑ กลํ่า.

(n.) Name of an ancient Thai unit of weight: 4 grains of unhusked rice equal 1 klom; 2 klom equal 1 klam.

กฺล่อม

ถากแต่งให้กลมงาม เช่น กล่อมเสา กล่อมไม้

(v.) To trim or shape into a smooth, rounded form, e.g., to smooth a post or wood.

โดยปริยายหมายความว่า เหมาะเจาะ เช่น นํ้าหอมกล่อมกลิ่นดอกไม้กลั่น (ขุนช้างขุนแผน).

By extension, means fitting or appropriate, e.g., a fragrance perfectly blending with the scent of distilled flowers.

กฺล่อม

ชื่อเพลงเครื่องปี่พาทย์ ทำตอนพระเข้าหานาง ซึ่งเรียกว่า โลม หรือตอนขับบำเรอ เรียกว่า กล่อมมโหรี อันใช้เป็นเครื่องสายประสมในภายหลัง และมีชื่อเป็นชนิดต่าง ๆ คือ กล่อมช้าง กล่อมพระยา กล่อมนารี และกล่อมในพิธีพราหมณ์ เรียกว่า ช้าหงส์ หรือ ช้าเจ้าหงส์, ชาวบ้านมักเรียกว่า กล่อมหงส์.

(n.) Name of a classical Thai musical piece played during the scene when the king approaches a lady, called 'Lom', or during the entertainment segment, called 'Klom Mahori', later adapted for string ensembles. There are various types: Klom Chang, Klom Phraya, Klom Naree, and in Brahmanic ceremonies, called Chahong or Chao Chahong. Commonly referred to as Klom Hong by villagers.

กฺล่อม
