ที่ที่มีต้นไม้ต่าง ๆ ขึ้นมา, ถ้าเป็นต้นสัก เรียกว่า ป่าสัก, ถ้าเป็นต้นรัง เรียกว่า ป่ารัง, ถ้ามีพรรณไม้ชนิดใดชนิดหนึ่งขึ้นอยู่มาก ก็เรียกตามพรรณไม้นั้น เช่น ป่าไผ่ ป่าคา ป่าหญ้า
