ชื่อไม้ล้มลุกชนิด Xanthium indicum K. Koenig ex Roxb. ในวงศ์ Compositae มักขึ้นเป็นวัชพืชในทุ่งนาและริมนํ้า ลำต้นและใบคาย ใบมนเว้า ขอบจัก โคนใบแหลม ดอกเล็กรวมเป็นกระจุกแน่น ผลรี ยาวประมาณ ๑ เซนติเมตร มีหนามปลายงอทั่วทั้งผล รากหอมอ่อน ๆ ใช้อบผ้าได้ บางส่วนของไม้นี้ใช้เป็นยาได้ แต่ทั้งต้นเป็นพิษต่อปศุสัตว์, ขี้ครอก หรือ ขี้อ้น ก็เรียก.

(n.) Name of a herbaceous plant, Xanthium indicum K. Koenig ex Roxb., in the family Compositae. Commonly found as a weed in fields and along water edges. The stem and leaves are rough; leaves are rounded with lobes, serrated edges, and pointed base. Small flowers cluster tightly; the fruit is oblong, about 1 cm long, covered with hooked spines. The root has a mild fragrance and can be used to scent cloth. Some parts are medicinal, but the whole plant is toxic to livestock. Also called 'ขี้ครอก' or 'ขี้อ้น'.
