(n.) A shrub species, Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (Aiton) Hassk., in the family Myrtaceae, commonly found in open forests in southern Thailand. The leaves are thick, dark green, paired along the branches, sometimes three leaves from a single node. The underside of the leaves has dense short hairs. The flowers are pink, resembling small wild roses, solitary or in clusters of 2-3. The fruit is round, turning dark purple when ripe, edible, fragrant and sweet. Also called 'thu,' 'phruat,' 'phruat yai,' or 'phruat kin luk.'
