ปลาตะเพียนขนาดกลางชนิด Barbonymus schwanefeldi (Bleeker) หรือ Puntius schwanefeldi (Bleeker) ในวงศ์ Cyprinidae ลำตัวสั้นกว้างคล้ายปลาตะเพียนขาว มักมีสีแดงอ่อนบนครีบ เฉพาะส่วนปลายของครีบหลังและขอบทั้งบนและล่างของครีบหางมีสีดำ ขนาดยาวได้ถึง ๔๐ เซนติเมตร, ตะเพียนหางแดง หรือ เลียนไฟ ก็เรียก, ปักษ์ใต้เรียก ลำปำ.

A medium-sized fish species, Barbonymus schwanefeldi (Bleeker) or Puntius schwanefeldi (Bleeker), family Cyprinidae; body short and broad, similar to the silver barb, usually with light red on fins, black at the tips of the dorsal and edges of the caudal fins; up to 40 cm long. Also called 'red-tailed barb' or 'Lian Fai'; in Southern Thailand called 'Lampang'.
