การให้, มักใช้ประกอบท้ายคำอื่น เช่น ธรรมทาน วิทยาทาน

(n.) The act of giving; commonly used as a suffix in compound words, e.g., ธรรมทาน (gift of the Dhamma), วิทยาทาน (gift of knowledge).

สิ่งที่ให้ มักหมายถึงเงินหรือสิ่งของที่คนให้แก่คนยากจน, เป็นธรรมข้อ ๑ ในสังคหวัตถุและทศพิธราชธรรม. (ดู สังคหวัตถุและทศพิธราชธรรม).

Something given; usually refers to money or goods given to the poor; the first principle of the saṅgahavatthu (four bases of social solidarity) and of the dasavidha-rājadhamma (ten royal virtues). (See saṅgahavatthu and dasavidha-rājadhamma.)
