The second planet in the solar system, approximately 108 million km from the Sun, with a diameter of 12,104 km; has no moons; possesses a dense atmosphere of carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid vapour; the brightest object visible in the sky. When seen in the west at dusk, called ดาวประจำเมือง (the Evening Star); when seen in the east before dawn, called ดาวรุ่ง or ดาวประกายพรึก (the Morning Star); Venus.
