กฺรด

คมมีลักษณะที่กัดกร่อนหรือตัดสิ่งของได้ เช่น นํ้ากรด = นํ้าที่คม ลมกรด = ลมที่คม.

Sharp, having a corrosive or cutting quality, e.g., 'nam krot' = sharp water, 'lom krot' = sharp wind.

ชื่อไม้เถาชนิด Combretum tetralophum C. B. Clarke ในวงศ์ Combretaceae มักขึ้นในที่นํ้าท่วม เช่น ตามฝั่งนํ้าลำคลอง ใบโดยมากออกรอบข้อ ๒ หรือ ๓ ใบ ใบอ่อนสีม่วงดำ เมื่อแก่เปลี่ยนเป็นสีเขียว ผลมีสันแข็งเป็น ๔ ครีบ, เถาวัลย์กรด ก็เรียก

Name of a climbing plant species, Combretum tetralophum C. B. Clarke, in the family Combretaceae. It usually grows in flooded areas, such as along riverbanks and canals. The leaves are mostly arranged in whorls of 2 or 3 at the nodes. Young leaves are dark purple, turning green when mature. The fruit has four hard ridges. Also called 'thao wan krot'.

อีกชนิดหนึ่ง คือ C. trifoliatum Vent. มีลักษณะคล้ายกันมาก แต่ผลมี ๕ ครีบ เช่น กรดกระถินอินจันพรรณไม้ (นิ. อิเหนา), สีเอยเจ้าสีสด เจ้าปลูกต้นกรดไว้ริมท่า (กล่อมเด็ก).

Another species, C. trifoliatum Vent., which is very similar, but its fruit has five ridges. Example: 'krot krathin inchan'. (From literature: 'I-nao', and lullabies.)
