(v.) To hang over the shoulder, to sling diagonally across the shoulder; e.g. ตะพายย่าม 'to carry a shoulder bag'. Also said สะพาย.

The action of threading a rope through the pierced nostril of cattle is called สนตะพาย; used figuratively of people: ถูกสนตะพาย or ยอมให้เขาสนตะพาย means to be compelled to comply against one's will, out of infatuation, or out of foolishness.
