คำใช้แทนชื่อเรียกภิกษุสงฆ์ เช่น วัดนี้มีพระกี่รูป พระลงโบสถ์, พระพุทธรูป เช่น ชักพระ ไหว้พระในโบสถ์, พระพุทธเจ้า หรือเนื่องด้วยพระพุทธเจ้า เช่น เมืองพระ คำพระ พระมาตรัส, ชื่อวันประชุมถือศีลฟังธรรมในพระพุทธศาสนา เดือนหนึ่งมี ๔ วัน คือ วันขึ้น ๘ ค่ำ ขึ้น ๑๕ ค่ำ แรม ๘ ค่ำ และแรม ๑๕ ค่ำ ถ้าเป็นเดือนขาดก็แรม ๑๔ ค่ำ เรียกว่า วันพระ

Used as an honorific prefix before other words to denote reverence: (1) major deities or great gods, e.g., Shiva (พระอิศวร), Vishnu (พระนารายณ์), the rain god Parjanya (พระพิรุณ); (2) the monarch or things pertaining to the king and high-ranking royalty (royal vocabulary), e.g., พระมหากษัตริย์ (king/monarch), พระราชวงศ์ (royal family); (3) ecclesiastical ranks at the Ratchakhana level, e.g., พระราชเวที, พระเทพเมธี; (4) Buddhist monks/bhikkhus, e.g., พระสมศักดิ์; (5) sacred or holy things, e.g., พระภูมิ (the guardian spirit of the land).

โดยปริยายหมายถึงผู้ที่มีเมตตากรุณาทรงคุณงามความดีเหมือนพระ เช่น ใจพระ พ่อแม่เป็นพระของลูก.

Figuratively, a person of exceptional compassion, virtue, and goodness comparable to a sacred being or monk, e.g., "a saintly heart" (ใจพระ); "parents are like monks/Buddhas to their children" (พ่อแม่เป็นพระของลูก).
