ชื่อไม้ล้มลุกในสกุล Capsicum วงศ์ Solanaceae ผลมีรสเผ็ด มีหลายชนิด เช่น พริกขี้หนู ( C. frutescensL.), พริกหยวก พริกชี้ฟ้า ( C. annuum L.).

Chilli; an herbaceous plant of the genus Capsicum, family Solanaceae, bearing pungent fruit. Varieties include bird's eye chilli (C. frutescens L.) and banana pepper / cayenne pepper (C. annuum L.).

พฺริก

ชื่อนกขนาดเล็กชนิด Metopidius indicus (Latham) ในวงศ์ Jacanidae ปากสีเหลือง หางตาสีขาว ตัวสีนํ้าตาลเป็นมันวาว นิ้วตีนยาวมากสำหรับพาดเดินบนพืชนํ้า บินไม่ค่อยเก่ง ทำรังบนพืชน้ำ กินพืชนํ้า แมลง และสัตว์น้ำขนาดเล็ก.

Bronze-winged jacana (Metopidius indicus (Latham), family Jacanidae); a small bird with a yellow bill, white postocular stripe, and glossy brown plumage; very long toes adapted for walking on floating aquatic vegetation; a poor flier; nests on aquatic plants; feeds on aquatic plants, insects, and small aquatic animals.

พฺริก

ชื่องูพิษขนาดเล็กถึงขนาดกลาง ในสกุล Maticora วงศ์ Elapidae ลำตัวเรียวยาว ตากลมเล็กสีดำ มีเส้นสีขาวพาดตามความยาวลำตัว มักพบซ่อนตัวอยู่ใต้ก้อนหินหรือขอนไม้ กินงู กิ้งก่า กบ เขียด ในประเทศไทยพบ ๒ ชนิด คือ พริกท้องแดง [ M. bivirgata (Boie)] ตัวสีน้ำเงินเข้ม หัว ท้อง และหางสีแดงสด ยาวประมาณ ๑.๔ เมตร และพริกสีนํ้าตาล [ M. intestinalis (Laurenti)] ตัวสีน้ำตาล หัวสีน้ำตาลส้ม ท้องมีลายเป็นปล้องสีดำสลับขาว ใต้หางมีสีแดงเรื่อ ๆ ยาวประมาณ ๕๐ เซนติเมตร ทั้ง ๒ ชนิดพบทางภาคใต้ของประเทศไทย.

A small to medium venomous snake of the genus Maticora, family Elapidae; slender-bodied with small round black eyes and white longitudinal stripes; found sheltering under rocks or logs; feeds on snakes, lizards, frogs, and toads. Two species occur in Thailand: the red-bellied coral snake (M. bivirgata (Boie)) - deep blue body with vivid red head, belly, and tail, ~1.4 m long, found only in southern Thailand; and the striped coral snake (M. intestinalis (Laurenti)) - brown body, orange-brown head, black-and-white banded belly, faint red undertail, ~50 cm long, also found only in southern Thailand.
